Description
Bamber Bridge Football Club are an English football team based in Bamber Bridge, near Preston, Lancashire. They play at the Irongate ground.
The club joined the North West Counties League in 1990, and won successive promotions in 1992 and 1993 to enter the Unibond Northern Premier League. They were promoted to the Premier Division in 1995 and won the league championship at the first attempt, although they were ineligible for promotion to the Conference. Bamber Bridge were unable to repeat that success, and slipped back down to the First Division, although they have been promoted back to the Premier following the 2004 Conference expansion. Their stay though was short-lived and they were relegated back to the First Division for 2005/06. In 2007, it was announced that Bamber Bridge would play in the inaugural season of the Northern Premier League Division One North.
The Czech Republic national team played a friendly at Bamber Bridge in a warm-up game prior to the 1996 European Championships, the Czechs coming out 9-1 winners.
