Eastbourne Town
Description
Eastbourne Town F.C. are a football club based in Eastbourne, England. The club was founded in 1881 as Devonshire FC and they were the founding members of the Sussex County Football League in 1920. In 1971, they changed their name from Eastbourne F.C. to the present name. In the 1975-76 season, they reached the 5th round of the FA Vase. In the 2006-07 season, they became Sussex County League champions on the last day of the season, defeating Oakwood 6-1 away from home to pip Whitehawk at the post, earning promotion to the Isthmian League Division One South.
Eastbourne Town FC play at The Saffrons in central Eastbourne, considered to be one of the most pleasant grounds in Sussex with an excellent pitch. Its picturesque setting was featured in David Bauckham's book Dugouts.
The club runs a reserve team, a youth (under 18's) team and a ladies' team.
