Description

Flixton F.C. are an English football club based in Flixton, near Urmston, Greater Manchester. The club was formed in 1960, playing in the Manchester and Wythenshawe League, then moved to the Lancashire and Cheshire League in 1963, winning its third division at the first attempt. They moved into the Manchester League in 1973, finishing runners-up in 1979, 1982 and 1986, then moved into the North West Counties Football League. Flixton had their most successful season in 1996-97, winning North West Counties League Division One (thus achieving promotion to the Northern Premier League) and reaching the semi-final of the FA Vase.

Flixton struggled in the Northern Premier League and were relegated back to the North West Counties League in 2000. In 2003, the club's main sponsor, the managers and the first team players all left, and although the club continued with new managers and a new set of players, they had points deducted for fielding an ineligible player and were relegated into Division Two. They won promotion back to Division One for the 2006-07 season.
