Grzegorz Turnau is a Polish composer, pianist, poet and singer.

He was born on July 31 1967 in Kraków, Poland. He won the First Prize (Grand Prix) at The Student Song Festival in Kraków (Cracow) in 1984 while he was only 17. Then, he became his career as as an artist of Piwnica Pod Baranami Cabaret composing such hit as "Znów wędrujemy". His first album, recorded in 1991, was Naprawdę nie dzieje się nic ("Nothing really happens") showing his next, title hit. Afterwards, he has had such hits as "Cichosza", "Pamięć" (1993), Między ciszą a ciszą ("Between silence and silence") or "Bracka" from 1995, "Tutaj jestem", "Liryka" among others. He recorded also an album with his own versions of songs by Jeremi Przybora and Jerzy Wasowski ("Cafe Sułtan").His latest record is Historia pewnej podróży, recorded in 2006 and is dedicated to one of his long time idols and friends Marek Grechuta. Turnau has made his characteristic, unique and recognizable style of his music (composing in special keys and harmonies, using such instruments as piano -he plays it, saxophone, bass, drums, violins, oboe, french horn). He refers sometimes to Smooth -jazz or the art of Marek Grechuta or Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz. He has won many awards of polish music industry (Fryderyk) and most of his albums turned to be a great musical and top-chart success. Grzegorz Turnau lives in Kraków (Cracow). The most famous song is "Na Brackiej".
